New Water Heater – When to Get One
There are typically two types of people in life … those who are proactive and those who are reactive. When it comes to having hot water on demand in your home, we advise being proactive! Because being proactive means you should always have hot water — no stress, no mess!
If you’re being reactive, it means you’re waiting for something (bad) to happen to react to! No one has a good day when there’s no hot water in the house. So you don’t want to end up in that situation, especially as there’s no guarantee how quickly a plumber can get out to fix your broken water heater.
Leading to our next question . . . Do you know how old your water heater is? If not…. that’s not a great sign!
We recommend replacing water heaters over six years old. Water heaters over 10 years old should definitely be replaced as PROACTIVE preventative maintenance on your home. By choosing to get a new water heater sooner than later, you can avoid flooding or other expensive damages resulting a broken water heater. Water damage costs can add up fast and be quite expensive. Water damage may also create more problems with your electrical and can be a hazard for anyone in the home, particularly little kids. If you have children, be sure to keep up with your water heater’s lifespan. Check for leaks and signs of wear every six months and have a professional check your water heater if you have any concerns at all.
